This book is a collection of over 250 Pathare Prabhu and other traditional Maharashtrian recipes prepared by Kalpana Talpade. The Pathare Prabhu community is one of the oldest communities in the city of Mumbai. Largely dominated by fish in their staple diet, the Pathare Prabhus have one of the lightest and easiest to make recipes. Kalpana Talpade, a member of this community, has been cooking in her own kitchen, recipes passed down as heirlooms by several generations. There is a need to now conserve the brilliance of these recipes and make them accessible to the vast ocean of food enthusiasts. Kalpana started making these traditional recipes known through her You Tube channel ‘Kalpana’s Kitchen’ since 2011, with the sole intention of passing this knowledge to her children. She has received recognition for her initiatives and has been extremely popular internationally for her culinary expertise. Antique as they may be, she truly believes that they enliven the taste of this coastal city and she invites you to share the love by cooking them.
